FORMATION OF A STRATEGY FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF AGRICULTURAL ENTERPRISES

Abstract

The article explores international standards and approaches to the implementation of corporate social responsibility and non-financial reporting practices, which collectively create the foundation for enhancing the transparency, accountability, and efficiency of agricultural enterprises. The research emphasizes that growing demand for sustainability, responsible business conduct and disclosure of non-financial information reflects not only global trends but also the urgent need for Ukrainian agrarian sector to respond environmental, social and governance challenges. The analysis identifies key problems currently faced by Ukrainian agricultural enterprises. The article proposes a stepwise model for developing sustainability strategy for agrarian enterprises under modern economic, ecological and social conditions. The model highlights the necessity of aligning business objectives with global sustainability standards while taking into account national priorities and post-war recovery needs. The authors argue that the formation of sustainability strategy should begin with stakeholder engagement and risk assessment, followed by setting measurable sustainability goals, implementing innovative and digital solutions, ensuring ecological resilience and integrating ESG reporting practices. Furthermore, the article formulates key principles of sustainable development for agricultural enterprises: economic efficiency; ecological safety; social responsibility; innovativeness and digitalization; transparency and accountability. The successful implementation of these principles is expected to accelerate the modernization of agrarian sector, support Ukraine’s post-war economic recovery and facilitate its integration into the European Union space. In conclusion, the research underscores that sustainable development is no longer a voluntary practice but an essential strategic imperative for the Ukrainian agrarian sector. By adopting CSR and ESG frameworks, agricultural enterprises can strengthen resilience to external shocks, improve access to international markets and investments. Thus, sustainability-oriented transformation in agriculture should be viewed as a prerequisite for long-term competitiveness and crucial factor in Ukraine’s economic revival and integration into the global sustainable economy.
