FEATURES OF THE APPLICATION OF THE PROJECT-PROCESS APPROACH TO MANAGING THE DEVELOPMENT OF PRODUCTION SYSTEMS
Abstract
In today’s conditions of rapid economic development and growing competition in domestic and foreign markets, every business entity engaged in production activities is obliged not only to implement advanced technologies, innovative solutions and technical innovations, but also to improve approaches to organizing the management of its own activities. This involves the use of effective management tools, building a flexible decision-making system and constantly updating management practices. A key challenge for businesses across sectors is the formation and consistent implementation of competitive advantages to strengthen market positions and achieve sustainable development. Enterprises must constantly apply adaptive strategies, optimize internal processes, and improve management structures. They are compelled to proactively transform their approaches, seeking more efficient management concepts. In response, production systems increasingly adopt combined approaches that integrate elements of various management paradigms. A promising option is the integration of process and project approaches, which enables optimal use of their respective strengths. This combined model enhances production system performance by blending structured process management with the flexibility and goal-orientation of project-based management. Such integration improves adaptability to external changes, cuts costs, shortens innovation timelines, boosts employee productivity, and increases overall efficiency. The study explores the interaction mechanisms between process and project approaches, identifies synergy points, and outlines conditions for maximizing effectiveness. The article also describes the key advantages of each approach separately: process - as a way to ensure stability, predictability and control over current business processes, and project - as a tool for flexible response to changes, implementation of strategic initiatives and innovation management. Special attention is paid to the formation of a set of measures aimed at achieving effective synergy between approaches, which allows enterprises to maximize their potential in conditions of high dynamics of the external environment.
