ACCOUNTING SUPPORT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF IT COMPANIES DURING WARTIME

Abstract

The article examines the impact of the full-scale war in Ukraine on the information technology sector, in particular on the adaptation of IT companies' accounting policies to new economic, social, and regulatory realities. The war has created a number of complex challenges for the IT business, including labor market instability, increased tax burdens, logistical difficulties, increased operational and financial risks, and changes in legislation. These circumstances require an urgent review and adjustment of accounting procedures to ensure greater financial stability, adaptability, transparency of reporting, and increased competitiveness of Ukrainian IT companies in the global market. The purpose of the study is to identify key changes that need to be made to the accounting policies of IT companies to adequately reflect new categories of costs and risks arising during periods of military conflict and instability. To achieve this goal, a set of methods of systematic analysis, generalization, abstraction, and comparison was used, which made it possible to identify the main directions for adapting accounting procedures and to determine practical recommendations. The results of the study show the need to include new expense items in accounting policies, such as expenses for staff relocation, ensuring business continuity, improving cybersecurity, and forming reserves to cover emergencies and losses related to military actions. Emphasis is also placed on improving the document flow and reporting system to strengthen control, increase transparency, and provide timely information to stakeholders, which is extremely important in crisis conditions. The practical value of the article lies in the development of specific recommendations for IT companies on adapting their accounting policies in the context of martial law and the associated economic uncertainty. This will contribute to improving the effectiveness of financial management, reducing risks, and supporting the stability and sustainable development of the Ukrainian IT sector even in the face of crisis challenges and the changes they bring.
