ASSESSMENT OF THE STATE OF THE CORPORATE SECTOR OF THE ECONOMY IN UKRAINE
Abstract
The article is dedicated to the problems of assessing the functioning of the corporate sector of the economy of Ukraine. The importance of this research topic is explained with the fact that the development of the corporate sector in Ukraine is complicated by the imperfection of the current legislation, the insufficient development of the domestic stock market, and the low level of corporate governance. The corporate sector today needs the support of state institutions. But to improve the existing situation, it is necessary to assess the current state of the corporate sector. The purpose of the article is to formulate proposals for assessing the functioning of the corporate sector of the Ukrainian economy, taking into account the most important problems of corporate governance. To substantiate the original proposals, current publications which are performed by Ukrainian researchers are analyzed in the article. The results of the analysis determined the need to disclose theoretical aspects and practical features of assessing the performance of corporations. The factors which influence the corporations at the current stage of development of the Ukrainian economy are revealed in the paper. The most important of these factors are: the property rights of shareholders, initiation of IPO procedures by corporations, the level of taxation of corporations, as well as their participation in corporate social responsibility activities. The impact of each factor on corporate sector is proposed to estimate with chosen indicators. In addition, the economic sense and features of the practical application of the indicators are accurately analyzed in the presented paper. As a result of the assessment of corporate activities, in the paper revealed such possibilities as: integral assessment based on the generalization of indicators describing previously identified factors with the determination of the corresponding integral indicator if necessary; application of economic diagnostic methods with the determination of normative values for each indicator; estimation of future value of chosen indicators with quantitative forecasting techniques.
