SYSTEM-BASED APPROACHES TO ASSESSING INVESTMENT ACTIVITY IN THE CONTEXT OF DIGITALIZATION
Abstract
The article substantiates the relevance of applying a systemic approach to assessing investment activity in the context of ongoing digital transformation. Traditional evaluation models, which rely heavily on static financial indicators and institutional benchmarks, prove insufficient in a rapidly evolving environment characterized by data proliferation, digital platforms, and behavioral shifts in investment decision-making. The research emphasizes the need to adapt assessment methodologies to reflect the complexity and interdependence of technological, informational, and institutional changes brought about by digitalization. The proposed systemic approach integrates key digital determinants—such as technological infrastructure, data openness, digital competencies, and regulatory frameworks—into a unified model for evaluating investment activity. Particular attention is given to how these factors operate across macro-, meso-, and microeconomic levels, transforming both the external investment landscape and the internal logic of investor behavior. The article highlights key shifts in decision-making: from expert intuition to automated analysis, from subjective judgment to data-driven logic, and from static evaluation to dynamic adaptation. A conceptual model is developed to visualize the interconnections between digital influences, transformed decision-making mechanisms, and revised evaluation criteria, such as investment attractiveness, transparency, risk exposure, and adaptability. The article also presents applicable tools for implementing the systemic approach, including data analytics platforms, scenario modeling, and algorithmic project evaluation systems. These instruments are designed to enhance strategic investment decisions by ensuring real-time responsiveness and contextual relevance. This study contributes to the evolving discourse on investment management by outlining how systemic thinking, integrated with digital capabilities, can improve the quality of analytical insights and decision-making. The findings are relevant for policymakers, business leaders, and analysts seeking to modernize investment evaluation frameworks and align them with the demands of a complex digital economy.
