INVESTMENT STRATEGIES FOR UKRAINIAN IT COMPANIES ENTERING INTERNATIONAL MARKETS: OPPORTUNITIES, CHALLENGES, AND EFFECTIVE APPROACHES

Abstract

The article explores the strategic processes of developing and implementing investment models aimed at supporting Ukrainian IT companies in their entry into global markets. Particular attention is paid to the identification of both internal and external opportunities, such as access to new customer bases, increased capitalization potential, international brand recognition, and the attraction of strategic partners and investors. At the same time, a comprehensive analysis of challenges is presented — including legal uncertainties, differences in business cultures, geopolitical instability, currency risks, and limited access to international investment instruments and infrastructure. The research reveals that a systematic approach to investment planning — including thorough market research, clear positioning strategies, adaptive product localization, and a deep understanding of global market dynamics — significantly increases the chances of successful international scaling. Moreover, the article emphasizes the importance of forming sustainable international partnerships and networks that can serve as conduits for knowledge transfer, brand visibility, client acquisition, and trust-building in unfamiliar markets. A separate section of the study discusses the role of the Ukrainian government in shaping a supportive institutional and financial environment for IT exports, highlighting tax incentives, grant programs, public-private partnerships, the development of digital infrastructure, and diplomatic efforts to open foreign markets for domestic tech companies. It is also noted that the future competitiveness of Ukrainian IT companies depends on their ability to integrate into global innovation chains, implement ESG-compliant investment practices, and adopt flexible, adaptive organizational models suitable for remote, cross-border teams that operate in volatile international contexts. The conclusions of the study provide a basis for strategic decision-making both at the corporate and state level, offering practical tools, forecasting models, and methodological frameworks for minimizing investment risks and accelerating international growth. These findings are relevant for IT entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, policymakers, analysts, and researchers focused on economic development and technology-driven globalization.
