ORGANIZATION OF SUPPLY CHAINS OF THE METALLURGICAL INDUSTRY TAKING INTO ACCOUNT CHANGES IN FOREIGN ECONOMIC ACTIVITY
Abstract
The article is devoted to the topical issues of organizing supply chains in the metallurgical industry, given changes in foreign economic activity. The article analyzed the geo-economic situation of the metallurgical industry in the regions bordering the combat line and located in the occupied territories. Only the Danube ports continue to operate in Ukraine, but their limited capacities do not solve the existing logistical problems. Studied and systematized the indicators of dynamics of positions in the TOP–15 ranking of the leading steel-producing countries in the world market, according to the World Steel Association. The influence of the main factors on the organization of supply chains, taking into account changes in foreign economic activity, is revealed. The study found that the Ukrainian steel industry has significantly reduced crude steel production by 72 % since 2022 due to military aggression by the Russian Federation. Accordingly, due to the negative dynamics of steel production and the geo-economic situation, the steel industry is facing a decline in exports of steel products to foreign markets. Ukraine's steel industry has prospects in the global market, provided it adapts, increases production capacity, and organizes supply chains in a high-quality manner, considering changes in foreign economic activity. At best, this will happen after the end of the military aggression by the Russian Federation, which will accelerate the adaptation and reorientation of supply chains. The authors proposed that an integrated approach could be implemented to manage and control the logistics process and consider sustainable development strategies to ensure competitiveness in the market. The prospect for further research is developing a supply chain strategy for the metallurgical industry to ensure the economic security of enterprises, which should be based on strengthening the international position in the world market and considering the transition to environmental production methods.
