HYBRID TEAM MANAGEMENT IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT: CHALLENGES AND APPROACHES FOR ACHIEVING RESULTS

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing geopolitical crises have accelerated the shift to hybrid work models, blending remote and office-based work. While offering advantages like business continuity and access to global talent, these models present managerial challenges, including communication barriers, productivity disparities, and information isolation. Hybrid teams often struggle with asynchronous communication, leading to delays and misalignment. To address this, companies need structured communication protocols and digital collaboration tools. Productivity can vary between remote and in-office workers due to differing environments and supervision levels, requiring clear performance metrics and trust-based monitoring to ensure equity. Additionally, a robust performance assessment system is needed to address expectations and accountability, ensuring transparency and alignment with organizational goals. Cultural and social differences can impact work ethics and collaboration in hybrid teams. Cultural awareness training and inclusive leadership are essential to mitigate these issues. Leadership styles must shift from traditional, fear-based models to purpose-driven approaches that emphasize trust, empowerment, and goal alignment. Strategic approaches for effective hybrid management include adopting flexible work policies, leveraging advanced collaboration tools, and fostering a results-oriented work culture. Organizations should invest in digital project management platforms to enable seamless coordination and virtual team engagement.
