DETERMINANTS OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION OF SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED ENTERPRISES
Abstract
The article examines the main determinants of digital transformation of SMEs, classifies them into groups and proposes a model of their impact on the success of business digitalization. Digital transformation is a key factor in improving the competitiveness and efficiency of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). However, the process of implementing digital technologies in such companies remains difficult due to limited resources, lack of digital competencies and organizational barriers. The purpose of the article is to identify the key determinants of digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises in the current environment. Based on the analysis of scientific research, it is found that digital transformation depends on a number of factors, which are conditionally divided into technological, organizational, human and external determinants. Technological determinants include the availability of digital technologies, their compatibility with business processes and investment risks. Organizational determinants include company size, digital strategy, digital maturity and management competencies. The human factor determines the level of digital training of staff, employee involvement in digitalization processes, and the development of digital skills. The determinants of external influence include competitive pressure, government support, partnerships, and the availability of digital infrastructure. The proposed model of digital transformation of SMEs takes into account the interaction of these determinants and allows identifying key areas for successful digitalization. In particular, it emphasizes the importance of forming a digital strategy, developing digital competencies of staff and integrating modern technologies into business processes. Thus, the study makes a significant contribution to understanding the digital transformation processes of SMEs and offers practical recommendations for improving the effectiveness of digital initiatives in small and medium-sized businesses.
