RISKS OF IMPLEMENTING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN ENTREPRENEURIAL ACTIVITIES
Abstract
The article is devoted to analyzing key risks of artificial intelligence (AI) implementation in business and proposing measures to mitigate associated threats. It emphasizes that the rapid advancement of AI significantly influences enterprise competitiveness, efficiency, innovation, and economic growth. According to the Mastercard SME Index 2024, approximately 21% of entrepreneurs already incorporate AI in their businesses, particularly in marketing, customer interaction, content creation, and analytics. OpenAI reported rapid growth, with weekly users reaching 400 million in February 2025, doubling corporate adoption within six months, and a fivefold increase in usage for specific AI models. However, integrating AI into business operations is accompanied by multiple risks, categorized in the study as financial, operational, workforce management, ethical, regulatory, and cybersecurity risks. Financial and operational risks include high initial investment costs, dependence on external technology platforms, and limited financial accessibility for small enterprises, potentially exacerbating economic inequality. Workforce management risks involve significant shifts in employment structures due to automation, demanding comprehensive strategies for employee retraining and cultural adaptation. Ethical and regulatory concerns focus primarily on algorithmic bias and transparency, highlighting the necessity of balanced data usage and compliance with regulations like the European AI Act. Increased reliance on AI heightens cybersecurity threats, exemplified by data breaches and unauthorized access incidents, as evidenced by Samsung’s 2023 data leak incident. The article underscores the importance of data protection and cybersecurity strategies, including encryption and continuous monitoring. Recognizing and addressing these challenges through responsible internal policies and proactive regulatory practices are critical for businesses to effectively harness AI's potential, ensuring sustainable development and minimizing adverse impacts.
