MANAGERIAL CHANGES IN IT COMPANIES OF UKRAINE UNDER CONDITIONS OF TRANSFORMATIONS

Abstract

The article analyzes key managerial changes within Ukraine's IT sector, necessitated by the required transformation during wartime conditions. It was determined that the prerequisites of previous successful collaboration and development, as well as the state of the Ukrainian IT industry, enabled companies to maintain their presence in the competitive market, albeit with significant positional losses. Furthermore, the specificity of the work process organization within IT companies, notably their high mobility and adaptability to remote work formats, contributed to their resilience. Simultaneously, industry specialists' high expertise played a pivotal role in retaining clients who had already formed a positive impression from prolonged productive collaboration. The research for the managerial changes incorporated data from IT companies of various sizes, ages, and types across Ukraine, collected from public sources and supplemented by a proprietary survey conducted in nine different companies. This allowed for the generalization and typologization of managerial changes. Accordingly, seven factors necessary for change were identified, which enabled companies to resume operations under force majeure conditions. These factors include employee safety and stabilization of working operations, energy supply, an uninterrupted internet connection, continuous communication with clients, enhanced intensity of internal communication, implementation of mental health support programs, emphasis on cost optimization, and initiating projects supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Each factor mentioned above comprises a series of changes covering companies' transformational needs. Particular attention is given to the development of the mil-tech sector, as the onset of russia's full-scale invasion has rapidly increased the demand for innovative technical solutions for the Ukrainian Armed Forces and for protecting information systems from constant attacks. The analysis of the military tech sector's development led to the conclusion that today it is one of the most sought-after fields in Ukraine and globally, considering the consistent rise of military threats.
