FACTORS OF INVESTMENT AND INNOVATION STRATEGY FORMATION FOR RAILWAY ENTERPRISES DEVELOPMENT
Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of factors of investment and innovation development of railway transport enterprises in Ukraine in modern conditions. Sustainable development of railway transport requires the renewal of rolling stock, optimisation of production processes, logistics, security measures and innovative technologies. Implementing the investment and innovation strategy will help reduce operational costs, boost competitiveness, and foster sustainable growth in the current challenging environment. Attracting financial resources will enable the introduction of advanced management methods and modern infrastructure development, increasing profitability and resource efficiency. Particular attention will be paid to government support and international co-operation in the financing of critical infrastructure projects. The article also explores economic, political, and security factors influencing the investment climate in railway transport. Public-private partnerships and international cooperation are essential to ensure stable investment. Digitalisation and automation of operational processes facilitates accurate and efficient monitoring of rolling stock, optimises freight flows to reduce costs and speed up delivery, significantly improves passenger comfort through convenient mobile applications, contactless payments and other modern services, and significantly increases the cybersecurity of railway information systems. The adoption of environmentally friendly technologies, such as energy-efficient locomotives and smart grid solutions, will also reduce the transport sector’s environmental impact and operational costs. The successful implementation of this strategy will require cooperation with international financial institutions, government agencies and private investors through the development of financial instruments, including grants, long-term loans and tax incentives. Comprehensive infrastructure modernisation, active adoption of innovation and strong government support are essential to ensure long-term development.
