MANAGEMENT IN CONDITIONS OF INSTABILITY AND WAR
Abstract
The article is devoted to the current management issues in conditions of instability and war. The primary management problems that businesses face in conditions of war are delay in responding and making decisions, inconsistency of the organizational structure and unclear strategic goals, reactive approach to decision-making and dependence on established norms, dependence on external advice, and strict adherence to personal principles. Companies’ concern for the psychological state of employees is considered as necessary. The priorities in ensuring employees’ physical safety and mental health during a period of war and uncertainty are systematized, such as physical safety of employees, assistance with moving, support for emotional well-being, uninterrupted work, and development of emotional resilience in teams. The elements of the company’s anti-crisis strategy are outlined, which are necessary for managers to implement during project implementation and maintain the company’s functioning. It is essential to focus on such elements as creating a crisis management team, implementing cybersecurity measures, transparent communication, scaling remote work, adapting supply chains, forming reserve financial plans, and forming a post-crisis recovery plan. The experience of Ukrainian businesses during the war highlights the critical importance of adaptive communication and engagement of various market participants, organizations, and communities. Today, the unpredictable nature of military conflict has highlighted the need for dynamic and flexible approaches to company management. The importance of preserving companies’ human resources during the war and the resulting migration crisis is emphasized. It is noted that ignoring these actions by companies increases the risk of losing key resources that ensure their future development and growth, without which overcoming crises during the war becomes significantly more difficult. Trends in the desire of Ukrainian migrants to return to Ukraine over the past three years are reflected. The impact of population decline in Ukraine on its economic condition and recovery opportunities is noted.
