TRANSFORMATIONS OF THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC SPACE OF UKRAINE UNDER MARTIAL LAW

Abstract

The article analyzes the transformations of Ukraine's socio-economic space under martial law, specifically changes in economic structures, social institutions, and public administration. Special attention is given to the impact of martial law on market mechanisms, entrepreneurial activity, investment climate, and the social sphere, including education, healthcare, and social services. The study explores how external and internal factors related to military actions have altered the country’s economic landscape, including a reduction in industrial production, rising unemployment, migration processes, and changes in labor relations. Adaptive mechanisms used by the government and businesses to maintain social stability during the crisis are assessed. Particular focus is given to reforms in public administration, specifically changes in social security policies, business support, and infrastructure projects aimed at the country’s recovery. The article also addresses new social challenges faced by Ukrainians in wartime, including issues related to internally displaced persons and social integration. Additionally, the article includes an analysis of the socio-economic consequences of the war for Ukraine's regions, with a focus on their recovery and development under limited resources and an unstable situation. Economic security issues and strategies for overcoming the effects of martial law in the social and economic spheres are highlighted. The study also emphasizes the importance of international support and cooperation to stabilize the country’s socio-economic space during the war. The article also highlights the specific socio-economic consequences for individual regions of Ukraine, especially those located in the combat zones, with a focus on their recovery, development, and rehabilitation after the conflict ends. It identifies issues of economic security and strategies for overcoming the effects of martial law, which can serve as a foundation for further reforms and stabilization of the socio-economic situation. Finally, the article emphasizes the need for international support for Ukraine during these difficult times, as well as the importance of developing cooperation with international organizations to stabilize the country’s socio-economic space.
