DIGITIZATION IN THE CONTEXT OF GLOBAL CHALLENGES: ASIAN EXPERIENCE AND PROSPECTS
Abstract
This article examines the growing significance of digitalization in the economic development of Asian countries, focusing on its contribution to economic growth, innovation, and the ability to respond to modern challenges, including the global COVID-19 pandemic. In recent years, digital technologies have become an essential factor in shaping national economies, acting as a catalyst for structural changes in sectors such as industry, education, healthcare, and government. The study discusses how digitalization fosters economic development by improving the efficiency of business processes, enhancing the productivity of various sectors, and creating new opportunities for entrepreneurship and innovation. One of the key aspects explored is the increasing reliance on digital infrastructure, such as broadband internet, cloud computing, and e-commerce platforms, which allows businesses to compete on a global scale and reach new markets. The article also highlights the issue of the digital divide, which remains a significant challenge for many countries in Asia. The unequal access to digital resources and technologies creates disparities not only within countries but also between different regions, hindering the ability of certain populations to fully participate in the digital economy. Governments and policymakers are called upon to address this issue by investing in digital infrastructure, improving digital literacy, and promoting policies that ensure equitable access to technology. Furthermore, the role of state policies in shaping the digital transformation process is emphasized. Countries with well-established strategies for digital development tend to experience faster and more successful integration of digital technologies. In contrast, countries lacking clear digital strategies may face obstacles in implementing necessary reforms, thereby limiting their economic potential.
