THE CURRENT STATE OF DEVELOPMENT OF SMALL ENTERPRISES IN THE AGRICULTURAL SECTOR OF THE UKRAINIAN ECONOMY
Abstract
This scientific article provides a comprehensive study of the current state of development of small business in the agricultural sector of Ukraine's economy. The relevance of the study is due to the growing role of small businesses in ensuring sustainable development of rural areas, food security of the State and the need to develop effective mechanisms to support this segment of the economy. The purpose of the study is to determine the current state of development of small business in the agricultural sector, to identify key problems and barriers that hinder its development. The study uses a systematic approach, methods of statistical, comparative and structural-logical analysis, as well as a synthesis of the results of scientific works of domestic scientists. The empirical basis is the official statistical data of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine. The results obtained show the important role of small enterprises in the agricultural sector through their contribution to employment, production and sales of agricultural products. On the basis of empirical data, the contribution of small enterprises to the national performance indicators of the agricultural sector as of 2022 is estimated, including their share in the number of enterprises, employment, and sales. The most significant contribution of small enterprises to the total volume of agricultural sales is 33.6%. Despite their smaller number compared to large enterprises, they have demonstrated significant efficiency and productivity. The distribution of enterprises by the area of agricultural land and sales volumes is analyzed. At the same time, the uneven distribution of land resources is revealed, which raises the issue of protecting the rights of small producers. The key problems include imperfect regulatory framework, limited access to financial resources, low innovation activity, and a shortage of qualified personnel. The practical value of the study lies in the thorough recommendations for improving the state policy of supporting small agricultural entrepreneurship by expanding access to finance, intensifying international cooperation and stimulating cooperation.
