THE REGION'S FOREIGN TRADE SECURITY AND ITS PLACE IN THE NATIONAL SECURITY SYSTEM

Abstract

The article aims to delineate the conceptual underpinnings of regional foreign trade security and its role within the national security framework. It emphasizes the pivotal role of this security dimension in strengthening regional stability and development, alongside its broader implications for national security. Various theoretical research methods were applied, including analysis and synthesis to refine the concept of regional foreign trade security, comparison to discern key differences and similarities among different aspects of regional security, and grouping to identify common threat characteristics and classify them into distinct categories. The study yielded several significant findings enriching our comprehension of regional foreign trade security. It identified influential factors shaping regional foreign trade security, including global factors such as major megatrends in world economic development and geopolitical influences, macro-level factors like economic development levels and institutional frameworks, and regional factors encompassing economic structure, international trade relations, infrastructure development, and innovation. Furthermore, the article underscores the importance of awareness and effectively mitigating threats emerging within the field of foreign trade activities. These threats are categorized into direct external threats, indirect external threats, direct internal threats, and indirect internal threats. Additionally, the primary functions of regional governing bodies in ensuring regional foreign trade security are outlined, including creating conducive conditions for foreign trade and investment, coordinating actions with other competent authorities and local governments, supporting international trade, and monitoring the impact of external and internal environments on foreign trade security. Understanding regional foreign trade security and its role in national security empowers decision-makers to develop effective strategies, promoting economic development, and enhancing overall security. Identifying influential factors and threats provides a structured approach to assess risks and implement targeted interventions, mitigating vulnerabilities in trade activities.
