THE ROLE OF HOUSEHOLD SAVINGS IN ENSURING THE COUNTRY’S ECONOMIC SECURITY IN THE CONDITIONS OF UNCERTAIN
Abstract
Ensuring economic security of the state is possible primarily through the formation of an appropriate level of stability of the national economy to external and internal threats. It is stable economic development that allows state authorities to form appropriate reserves of financial resources for their use as a result of the onset of crisis situations within the world economy and the country’s financial system. Household savings play a key role in ensuring economic security of the state, as they represent an internal financial resource that is formed within the country and is used for lending and investing the national economy. Within the article, the impact of savings on economic security of the state is examined. For this purpose, the analysis of the essence of economic security as a scientific category was carried out, which was implemented through the study of already established scientific approaches to the interpretation of this definition. This made it possible to identify the content features of this type of security, which was used when describing the role of households in providing it. Household savings play a key role primarily in the formation of an appropriate level of financial security, which is an integral component of the state’s economic security system. It is defined in the article that the role of savings in ensuring this type of security is ambiguous, and their impact on stimulating the development of business entities can be both positive and can create appropriate risks for their activities. It is proved that the destructive impact of savings on the development of the national economy and its security primarily consists in reducing the amount of households funds that fall into the financial system of countries, which gradually leads to a deterioration in the indicators of banking security, security of non-bank financial institutions, financial and, accordingly, economic security of the country. The article also describes the impact of household resources on the formation of favourable conditions for stable development of the national economy, defines the ambiguity of this impact, identifies positive and threatening consequences for economic security of the state as a result of irrational use of temporarily free financial resources of households.
