YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT: GLOBAL TRENDS AND IMPACT ON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

The problem of unemployment is of particular relevance against the background of global social transformations taking place in the world. The problem of youth unemployment is typical for both developed and developing countries. However, if the former have the resources to increase youth employment, the latter are deprived of the possibility of providing state support and cannot offer young people quality education, which is the key to competitiveness in the modern world. Unconditional, although not obvious, is the determining influence of youth unemployment on the economic development of countries. Young people as an active and able-bodied part of society should be the basis of productive potential, but, instead, find themselves in a situation of uncertainty, which leads to frustration and alienation from labor. The study found that the crisis processes in the economy and the negative dynamics of GDP affect the sphere of employment, causing an increase in unemployment worldwide. It is proved that youth unemployment is growing at a higher rate and has negative socio-psychological consequences for young people. Certain regional peculiarities of youth unemployment in the context of the economic situation in the regions and subregions are defined, among which: low level of education that does not meet the needs of the time, a large stratum of young people who do not work and do not study, etc. It is noted that the most serious problems of young unemployment is for a number of countries in Asia and Africa, which leads to an increase in emigration and an increase in socio-political tension. It is proved that in the context of global social transformations and new geopolitical challenges, the problem of youth unemployment is of particular relevance, the solution of which will help to reduce social tension in the society.
