THEORETICAL ASPECTS OF DIGITALIZATION IN HIGHER EDUCATION: PROBLEMS AND PROSPECTS OF DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

The article not only covers the theoretical aspects of digitalization in higher education but also establishes its significance for the development of society. Additionally, it analyzes the works of foreign scientists on the development of digitalization in higher education and the prospects for the development of the education economy in modern market conditions. Also, the article examines the index of global competitiveness, with a special focus on the level of coverage of higher education in Ukraine and the efficiency of higher education, measured by the share of graduates from higher education institutions in the total number of graduates from educational institutions. It was established that nearly 80% of graduates from Ukrainian schools go on to higher education. It has been established that in the future, education will be a mixed format that combines the best practices of online and offline learning into a unified system. The article highlights the advantages of online and offline education. An example of an innovative Khan Lab School (California school) solution is considered. Moreover, the reasons for transitioning to a digital university have been studied. It has been proven that the digital transformation of the educational process highlights the need for designing and developing digital educational resources, which, in turn, requires solving several tasks, including familiarizing teachers with the methods of using digital technologies in education, including distance and mobile technologies. Additionally, it involves mastering the methods of working with digital educational resources and cultivating teachers' readiness to use and create digital technologies in education, while also considering information and cyber security. Also, it is important to understand how to respond to cyber terrorism and technological terrorism, as well as unauthorized actions concerning information in the system. Teachers should be prepared for innovative activities and be able to respond to cyber incidents. Lastly, mastering the methodology of pedagogical design of digital educational resources to achieve learning goals is crucial. It has been established that the process of digitalization makes the education system more mobile, flexible, personalized, and differentiated.
