SCIENTIFIC DIPLOMACY IN THE TRADE AND ECONOMIC RELATIONS SYSTEM OF UKRAINE AND THE EUROPEAN UNION
Abstract
In today’s world, where international relations play a key role in the development of countries, science diplomacy is becoming increasingly relevant. This is a new area of diplomatic activity based on the use of scientific achievements and connections to promote trade and economic relations development. This paper will consider the main aspects of scientific diplomacy in the system of trade and economic relations between Ukraine and the European Union. One of the main aspects of science diplomacy in the system of trade and economic relations is cooperation in the field of research and innovation. Ukraine has considerable potential in these areas and the EU has a large market for new technologies and developments. Through science diplomacy both sides can cooperate in creating joint research projects, exchanging knowledge and technologies which will contribute to the development of trade relations. Another important aspect of science diplomacy is to promote the economic interests of countries. In the context of relations between Ukraine and the EU this means actively engaging scientists and experts to conduct analytical researches, develop strategies and recommendations on trade and economic cooperation. This approach brings together the scientific community with the business community and diplomatic representatives to work together to ensure the effectiveness of trade agreements and build trust between the parties. In addition science diplomacy has great potential to raise the country’s prestige and build a positive image. Ukraine can use scientific achievements and cooperation with the EU to confirm its status as a country with a developed scientific and technological base. This could help attract foreign investments, develop research centres and high-tech industries. Science diplomacy can also influence political decisions related to trade and economic relations between Ukraine and the EU. This approach allows scientists and experts to have an impact on shaping the political dialogue and making important decisions.
