APPROACHES TO INTERPRETING THE CONCEPT OF «ECONOMIC SYSTEM» AND ITS RESEARCH
Abstract
The article is devoted to the generalization of common approaches to the interpretation of the concept of «economic system». Common basic properties of an economic system are defined, such as structural connectivity, complexity and sustainability, which are general characteristics of any systems. The last property includes two components: the classical one, which is used in the study of the results of external influences on fixed systems, and the structural one, which is studied to identify qualitative changes when the structure of the system itself is changed. The characteristics of static, dynamic and synthetic properties of systems that manifest themselves and determine its state either at any fixed moment in time or during the functioning of the system are also given. Generalized approaches to defining the concept of «system» are presented. They are divided into three groups: as a set of processes, as a process research tool, and as a set of qualities. According to the results of the study of existing scientific approaches to defining the essence of the concept of «economic system», main approaches are formulated, such as evolutionary and genetic (supposes the understanding of an economic system as a complex dynamic object that is studied according to the historical stages of the system’s transformation); institutional (supposes an understanding of an economic system as a set of interconnected institutions that perform certain established functions); informational (supposes the study of the informative nature of an economic system as such, which ensures its management); structural and morphological (an economic system consists of an ordered hierarchical structure of interconnected elements); functional (represents an economic system as an organizational structure with the help of which management decisions are made and functions are performed); and a system-synergistic approach (an economic system is interpreted as a complex dynamic entity that organizes many structures and unites a huge number of interconnected elements). The main difference between economic growth and economic development is outlined as well.
