INTERNATIONAL TOURISM IN THE CURRENT CONDITIONS OF CRISIS AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC SHOCKS

Abstract

An important component of the foreign economic activity of many countries in the world is precisely the tourism industry. has a sufficient number of publications on the development of international tourism, the return to this issue is conditioned in advance by the sensitivity of tourism to external factors and risks that can influence and change the vector of its development. Timely reaction and the ability to influence prospective trends in the development of international tourism, assessment of the probability of occurrence of risks and influence on their consequences to avoid serious crises in the field of tourism. The events of the last three years have shown that tourism is one of the most vulnerable types of business, which depends on and at the same time affects many sectors of the economy. In Ukraine, the tourism industry is a promising, but now rather risky type of activity. The main goal of the study is the analysis of international tourism in the crisis period and its possible impact on the Ukrainian tourism business and the determination of the main factors that will have the greatest impact on the further development of the tourism industry in Ukraine. To solve the tasks, general scientific and special research methods were used: analysis, generalization, comparison. The theoretical basis of the study was the statistical data of the UNWTO, the State Statistics Service, the State Border Service of Ukraine, tourism statistics of Ukraine, the State Tourism Development Agency, scientific publications of Ukrainian researchers. The article examines the impact of the pandemic on international tourism in the world and in Ukraine, which led to a significant decrease in tourist flows both at the regional and global levels. An analysis of the number of tourists served by Ukrainian tour operators and travel agents in recent years, including international, outbound (foreign), inbound and domestic, was conducted. An analysis of the countries whose citizens visit Ukraine the most and which types of services are in the greatest demand among international tourists has been carried out. The results of the conducted research showed that the international tourism industry has undergone negative changes and significant losses due to socio-economic upheavals and crisis. The main factors that will have the greatest impact on the further development of the tourism industry in Ukraine have been established.
