THE CONDITION OF THE TOURISM INDUSTRY IN UKRAINE AND THE PROCESS OF ITS REPRODUCTION IN THE POSTWAR PERIOD
Abstract
In almost all developed world countries, tourism is an important part of the country’s budget income. Ukraine also tried to make tourism more attractive and competitive both in the domestic and international services market. However, the last years for the Ukrainian tourism industry and economy in general are years of contrasts, when each of them is not similar to another, and years of fighting with unpredictable external circumstances. The aim of the article is the analysis of the Ukrainian tourism industry and estimate of consequences, which were caused by COVID-19 and the war from the Russian side. For a solution to the pointed aim, there were used general scientific and special research methods: analysis, synthesis, generalization, comparison, and grouping. The statistical data of the government statistics service, State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, national tourist organization, State Agency for Tourism Development, scientific publications of Ukrainian researchers, and Internet data were the theoretical base of the research. In this work, it was investigated the state of the Ukrainian tourism industry during the last 4 years. The number of tour operators and travel agents, which were been working in the market of tourist services in Ukraine, and the number and the total cost of tours, which they implemented, were analyzed. It was made the distribution of tourists according to the place of travel during the vacation and according to the aim of travel in 2020. It was presented the top-10 countries, residents of which visited Ukraine, and what countries Ukrainians visited most often in 2021. It was researched in what condition is the population of Ukraine, because of the war; in what condition are tour operators, excursion bureaus, travel agents; which Ukrainian regions are ready to host tourists, and which regions are dangerous due to military actions. Also, information about the number of war crimes against the objects of Ukrainian cultural heritage is provided. It is indicated support of partner countries in the re-establishment of the socio-cultural sphere. And it is indicated the plan for the reconstruction of the Ukrainian tourism industry. This article is aimed not only at the analysis of the tourism industry state but is a base for searching for partners, who will help reconstruct the socio-cultural heritage, destroyed by Russian occupiers.
