RESOURCE POTENTIAL FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF NOSTALGIC AND ETHNOGRAPHIC TOURISM AS A FACTOR OF INCREASING THE TOURIST ATTRACTIVENESS OF THE REGION

Abstract

The article is devoted to the prospects for the development of nostalgic and ethno-graphic tourism in Ukraine and Kharkiv region; the characteristics of potential con-sumers have been determined as representatives of foreign diasporas who are ready to learn about their native land and places of their origin; examples of tourist routes for Kharkiv region are named; the need to develop nostalgic tourism in its modern forms is emphasized. The aim of the article is to identify the potential for the development of new forms of nostalgic tourism in Ukraine and Kharkiv region. The main task is to study the resource potential and the possibilities of its use for the development of nostalgic tourism; to discover the requirements of potential clients of nostalgic travelling; to analyse the preconditions for further development of nostalgic and ethnographic tourism (first of all – preservation of resource base, training of specialists) in Kharkiv region. The factors and specifics of the nostalgic tourism development in Ukraine are considered, taking into account the foreign economic policy of the state. On the example of Kharkiv region, it is proved that nostalgic and ethnographic tourism has all the necessary prerequisites for development in Ukraine as an independent direction of tourist activity. Its importance is highlighted not only due to the socio-economic development of the region and to the satisfaction of the sentimental needs of a limited number of visitors associated with nostalgia for the homeland, but also the performance of important functions: cognitive, aesthetic, educational, etc., which contribute to the strengthening of contacts and likely business cooperation between the citizens of Ukraine and representatives of other nations. It is proved that the latest forms of nostalgic and ethnographic tourism can be a powerful impetus to increase the number of tourist flows. Expanding the content of nostalgic tours will attract, along with traditional consumers (the older generation), young people, and the com-bination of historical and ethnic routes based on the acquaintance with the modern economic and cultural heritage of a country will provide much more opportunities for travel organizers. The article also draws attention to the results of modern genetic research that can provide new incentives for ethnic tourism.
